Chicken Almonds Chinese Recipe

– 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized piece – 1/2 cup sliced almond – 2 tablespoons soy sauce

– 1 tablespoon oyster sauce – 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce – 1 tablespoon rice vinegar – 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 teaspoon grated ginger – 2 green onions, chopped – 1 tablespoon cornstarch – 2 tablespoons water

– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil – Cooked rice, for serving

In a small bowl mix together soy sauce oyster sauce hoisin sauce rice vinegar minced garlic and grated ginger Set aside

In another small bowl dissolve cornstarch in water to make a slurry Set aside

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over mediumhigh heat Add sliced almonds

toast them until golden brown about 23 minutes Remove almonds from the skillet and set aside

In the same skillet add the chicken pieces and stirfry until they are cooked through and lightly browned about 56 minutes

Add the chopped green onions to the skillet and cook for another minute

Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the skillet Stir well to coat the chicken evenly with the sauce

Give the cornstarch slurry a quick stir and then pour it into the skillet Stir

the chicken mixture continuously until the sauce thickens about 12 minutes

Once the sauce has thickened add the toasted almonds back into the skillet Stir well to combine
