In a bowl whisk together soy sauce hoisin sauce honey rice vinegar minced garlic grated ginger

Chinese fivespice powder crushed red pepper flakes if using salt and pepper until well combined

Place the chicken drumsticks in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish

Pour the marinade over the chicken making sure they are evenly coated

Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or preferably overnight to allow the flavors to develop

Preheat the oven to 400°F 200°C Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and lightly grease with vegetable oil

Remove the chicken drumsticks from the marinade and place them on the prepared baking sheet Reserve the marinade for basting

Bake the chicken drumsticks in the preheated oven for 2530 minutes

Once the chicken is cooked through and golden brown remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes

Garnish the Chinesestyle chicken drumsticks with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired before serving
